What is Physical Activity?
According to the definition of WHO (World Health Organization), Physical activity is defined as any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles that requires energy expenditure.
That simply means movement of the body that uses energy.  "Physical activity" should not be mistaken with "exercise".

Why you need Physical Activity?  
Physical activity is fundamental means of improving one's physical, emotional, and mental health. It reduces the risks of many noncommunicable diseases and benefits society by increasing social interaction and community engagement.  Most importantly, regular activity can improve your quality of life.
Human beings are structurally made to be physical moving using legs and hands.  If we are glued to a same place and position, adequate blood circulation to all the other muscles and organs are affected as the blood gets collected in the extremities i.e. legs primarily and hands. When you are physically active, muscle contraction and relaxation pushes blood from your body parts to heart and gets pumped by heart to your body easily.

Tips to improve Physical Activity in your life?

Playing, working, house chores and recreational activities fall under the category of Physical Activity.

1. Fill your own bottle - You can get up and refill your own water bottles either at work or home. Make sure you fill the bottle from the farthest water station from your seat, so you will be able to add few more steps to your daily activity.
2. Gardening - Watering plants, remove the dead leaves, trimming, etc.  This along with increasing physical activity will help you get connected to nature which indirectly improves your oxygen intake.  Overall improves your health.
3. Dancing with family to your favorite music.  Along with improving your physical activity, this will help you better bond with your family.  Will help you increase your happiness and will be a healthy way of de-stressing yourself along with your family.
4. Playing with kids - Best way to keep yourself happy and healthy. You lose track of time as well.  This will help you model them that there is life beyond work, TV, Smartphones.. 
5. Stretching - Take a break every 30 minutes from your work/sitting and Do side bending, forward, and backward bending stretching 3 times at least. This will not only help you relax your stiffened muscles but also improve proper circulation of blood abundantly.
6. Do your own work - Whether at Home or Office, please choose to do your own work which will not only help you to be physically active but improves your health.  For example, if you physically interact with your colleagues rather than sending a text message, it will help you improve your communication skills, social circle, and you can bond well with your colleagues.  This is a much needed skill in the current social media prominent society.
At home, you can do it as a family and will be a great task to bond well and explore each ones talents in the family.  Kids can also be involved with age appropriate tasks like folding clothes, organizing their own belongings, helping in the kitchen with veggies, etc.
7.  Vegetable shopping and grocery shopping from the nearest vendor would be great way to improve your physical activity.  You can do this together as a family which will help you each other's choices, etc..

4. Reduce your risk of heart attack, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and some cancers as well according to researches.

Last but not the least WHO Worldwide statistics shows physical inactivity is estimated to be the primary cause of approximately 21-25% of breast and colon cancers, 27% of diabetes and approximately 30% of ischemic heart disease.
